Haiku, Inc. announced today that it has launched the World of Haiku® computer game on Steam with compatibility on the PC, Mac, and Linux platforms. The World of Haiku is an exciting Role Playing Game (RPG) that trains players in specific cybersecurity skills that align with Certified Ethical Hacker training. With each mission, players understand how the real Linux operating system works and how to control tools like JohnTheRipper, Hydra, Nmap, Ping, SSH, and many more.

In The World of Haiku, players are sent on missions to stop a series of cyber-terrorist attacks that takes place in the year 2049. A cast of supporting characters guides players as they race against time to find, and stop, computer viruses from causing the next global apocalypse. Innovative use of Linux-inspired commands, coupled with simulations of real-world cyber tools, throw players into an exhilarating adventure, all while earning skill-based badges along the way.

“You can have fun while learning hacking skills, and our game can also be a way into a career in cybersecurity,” says Eric Basu, World of Haiku founder. “Our platform is making people more aware of cybersecurity risks simply by playing World of Haiku; and when you are aware of how attackers can attack you, you’re better able to defend yourself.”

The World of Haiku is poised to be the first of a multi-volume set of adventures. As the story progresses and characters develop, so too will the player’s skills in both gameplay and practical hacker skill sets. The volumes of games will not only provide hours of fun and adventure to players but will reward them with skills that can open the door to new professional
opportunities.
